Colombo: Thanks to a 68-run partnership for the fifth wicket between middle-order batsman Manish Pandey (42 not out) and Dinesh Karthik (39 not out), the Indian team won the Nidhas Trophy trophy T20 series by defeating hosts Sri Lanka by 6 wickets. In response to the target of 153 runs from Sri Lanka, the Indian team's four wickets fell on 85 runs. At the time, the Indian team looked stuck in some difficulties but Pandey and Kartik batted sensibly and conveyed the Indian team to the target in 17.3 overs. Earlier, Indian team captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited Sri Lanka to bat first. Despite the stormy half-century (55 runs, 38 balls, three balls, three sixes) of early batsman Kusal Mendis, the Sri Lankans were able to score only 152 runs in 19 overs in 9 wickets. For India, Shardul Thakur took the maximum four wickets while Washington Sunder got two wickets. Due to the rain, the match was reduced to 19-19 overs.
